Praetura Ventures has been commended for strong governance, its experienced investment team and the strength of its investment process after the Praetura EIS Growth Fund was independently recognised by a respected investment and advisory research group.
The fund, which was awarded the MJ Hudson Cornerstone Trustmark, was recognised for quality governance and the strength of its management team, the depth of experience and breadth of capability across its investment team, and its robust investment process – with the firm’s diversity of origination channels, due diligence processes and deal selection all cited individually.
The Trustmark is an independent evaluation of tax-advantaged investment schemes that is only awarded to funds that meet a rigorous nine-stage process of qualitative and quantitative data analysis, alongside being benchmarked against other products in their peer group. It is led by MJ Hudson Allenbridge, an advisory and research group that specialises in investment advice, asset allocation and manager selection, as well as alternative investment due diligence and fund rating services for institutional investors, wealth managers and family offices.
The Praetura EIS Growth Fund, which was launched earlier this year, is looking to raise up to £30m per annum. It will soft close twice a year and the funds raised will be deployed to support the growth ambitions of EIS eligible early-stage businesses in the North and across the UK. This will include early-stage businesses looking for smaller, seed-stage investments as well as capital and support for more developed businesses that are looking to scale, with the goal of providing a meaningful capital return to its investors over a four to seven-year period.
Jonathan Prescott, business development director at Praetura Ventures, said:
“To have the Praetura EIS Growth Fund independently evaluated and recognised for its robustness is a great achievement and something we’re very proud of. At a time when there is some uncertainty across the market, this is even more important as it allows us to show investors and advisers exactly how EIS investment can support portfolio construction and financial planning.
“We’re starting to see a renewed appetite for investment and it’s important that we continue to take on the role of a strategic partner to our advisers and to our portfolio businesses, not just that of an investor. In doing so, we’re not only able to better support the growth ambitions of our portfolio but work in partnership with them to create long-term value for our investors.”
